Reading And Leeds Festival 2009 Review

So, like so many other people, I didn’t get to attend The Reading And Leeds Festival 2009, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the music.

Radiohead played a barnstormer of a set. Everything In It’s Right Place was a masterpiece performed live and made for a great finishing song. I think the crowd reaction summed it up perfectly. Everyone with their hands in the air, cheering. And the light show on stage was pretty awesome too.

Another fantastic band I got to see were The Kings Of Leon. I have had a rollercoaster ride with this band. I used to like them, then went off them, but now I am back to being a fan once again. Use Somebody was just an amazing song live. And from the crowd singing along to the song almost as loudly as the band, I am guessing they agreed.

I also got to check out one of my favourite bands of all time. Placebo. And they absolutely rocked it. Ok, so they don’t have the edge they had in the 90s, but they are still out there making fantastic music. Although even being a diehard Placebo fan for almost 15 years – I still say Battle For The Sun is not a great song and is too repetitive. This being said, the crowd seemed to like the band and the music, even Battle For The Sun, so it just goes to show that despite people leaving the band, they’ve still got it in spades.

Then there was La Roux. Now, I do have to admit being ever so slightly in love with the singer from La Roux, and yes, I do distinguish a difference between the singer and the fact that they ARE a band. It’s just that the guy who is involved in the band doesn’t like publicity. Understandable. Bulletproof was amazing, and slightly comical as the crowd sung the first verse or so far before La Roux, who then decided to play the crowd at their own game and belted out the lyrics. Fair play young lady. I will also admit to really liking the electro-style they play. Suits me down to the ground.

So there you have it, my very brief review of Reading And Leeds Festival 2009. Who knows, maybe next year I’ll get to go!
